Qazaq Nuclear Frontline Coalition (QNFC) also known as the “Atomdyq Sogysqa Qarsy Alda turgan Qazaq (ASQAQ) Koalitsiyasy” in Qazaq language is a grassroots collective and community-organising initiative dedicated to peace movement-building, bringing together leaders from nuclear-affected communities, civil society, and allied groups across Kazakhstan.
Built upon intergenerational, transnational, feminist, and intersectional solidarity, our initiative advances nuclear justice, human security, and decolonial approaches to disarmament while addressing historical and epistemic injustices linked to nuclear legacies and amplifying the voices and agency of affected communities.
Since its establishment in 2024, QNFC follows the path of grassroots anti-nuclear movement in Kazakhstan and remains committed to achieving nuclear justice and abolition of nuclear weapons.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to advance nuclear justice by centering the lived experiences, dignity, and agency of nuclear-affected communities.
We work toward recognition, accountability, redress, environmental healing, and the abolition of nuclear weapons.
By connecting local community knowledge with national and international policy processes, ASQAQ-QNFC seeks to build a more just, peaceful, and nuclear-free future for current and future generations.
WHAT WE DO
We amplify the voices and experiences of communities affected by the legacy of nuclear detonations in Kazakhstan, especially those connected to the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site.
Through research, advocacy, education, community dialogue, and international engagement, we work to document the long-term humanitarian, environmental, health, and intergenerational consequences of nuclear harm.
We also advocate for survivor-centred policies, meaningful participation of affected communities, environmental remediation, access to healthcare, recognition, and accountability. We believe that nuclear-affected communities are not only victims of nuclear harm, but also knowledge-holders, rights-holders, and leaders in shaping justice, memory, policy, and peace.
